I read a note my Grandma wrote back in 1923
Grandpa kept it in his coat and he showed it once to me
He said "Boy, you might not understand but a long long time ago Grandma's daddy didn't like me none but I loved your Grandma so


We had this crazy plan to meet and run away together
Get married in the first town we came to and live forever
But nailed to the tree where we were supposed to
 meet instead
I found this letter and this is what it said"


If you get there before I do don't give up on me
I'll meet you when my chores are through
I don't know how long I'll be
But I'm not gonna let you down
Darlin' wait and see
And between now and then till I see you again
I'll be loving you
Love, Me

I read those words just hours before
my Grandma passed away
In the doorway of a church where me and Grandpa
stopped to pray 
I know I'd never seen him cry in all my fifteen years
But as he said these words to her his eyes filled up
with tears

And between now and then till I see you again

ฉันได้อ่านข้อความของคุณย่าที่เขียนไว้ตั้งแต่ปี 1923...
เมื่อคุณปู่ท่านเก็บไว้ในเสื้อคลุมและได้นำมันออกมาให้ผมดูครั้งนึง ท่านว่า “เด็กน้อยเอ๋ย” เธออาจจะไม่เข้าใจ แต่มันเป็นเรื่องราวที่นานมาแล้ว ซึ่งคุณพ่อของคุณย่าเธอนั้นช่างไม่ชอบฉันเอาซะเลย แต่ว่าฉันก็รักคุณย่าของเธออยากเหลือล้น

 

เราจึงตระเตรียมแผนที่จะนัดพบและหนีไปด้วยกัน...
เพื่อแต่งงานในเมืองแรกที่เดินทางไปถึง....และเราจะครองคู่กันชั่วนิจนิรันดร์ ครั้นถึงจุดนัดพบที่ต้นไม้นั้น ซึ่งเป็นสถานที่ที่เราคาดไว้ว่าจะพบกัน ฉันก็ได้พบกับจดหมายฉบับนี้ ซึ่งมีข้อความที่เอ่ยไว้ว่า...


หากว่าเธอเดินทางไปถึงก่อนฉัน ....จงได้โปรดอย่าล้มเลิกความตั้งใจที่มีให้แก่ฉัน
ฉันจะไปพบเธอเมื่อภาระกิจต่าง ๆ ของฉันเสร็จสิ้นลง
ฉันมิอาจรู้ว่าต้องใช้เวลายาวนานอีกสักเท่าไหร่
แต่ถึงอย่างไรฉันจะไม่ทำให้เธอต้องผิดหวัง...
ทูนหัว ได้โปรดรอเถอะและเธอจะได้เห็น
และแม้ช่วงเวลาระหว่างนี้และต่อไป...จนกว่าฉันจะพบเธออีกครั้ง ฉันจะยังรักเธอ... ด้วยรัก จากฉันเอง...
 

ฉันได้อ่านข้อความนั้นเพียงแค่ชั่วโมง...
ก่อนที่คุณย่าของฉันจะจากไปชั่วนิรันดร์
ในทางเข้าของโบสถ์ ที่ที่ฉันและคุณปู่หยุดเพื่อจะสวดภาวนา
ฉันรู้ว่า ฉันไม่เคยเห็นท่านร้องให้ตลอดเวลาสิบห้าปีที่ผ่านมา
แต่คำบอกเล่าที่ท่านเอ่ยออกมาถึงคุณย่า ทำให้น้ำตาท่านเอ่อไหลออกมา
 

และแม้ช่วงเวลาระหว่างนี้และต่อไป...จนกว่าฉันจะพบเธออีกครั้ง
ฉันจะยังรักเธอ...
ด้วยรัก จากฉันเอง...
